pics and video

Yummy oreos

We just set up the finishing touches on the Christmas tree for tomorrow morning! We're going to open presents on Christmas Eve morning this year, since Steve will be in church early Christmas morning. Ethan is going to be so excited when he gets to ride in his very own car!

We all had the flu this past week, so Ethan spent plenty of time entertaining himself with mama's phone. It's scary how well he can use that thing.

Laundry is much more fun this way!

videos

So I'm finally getting around to uploading some of the videos off my phone, yay! Ethan has become quite the chatterbox lately. He copies everything we say, and narrates everything we do. I caught a little of his chattering on video before his cousin Saige arrived the other day. He was watching out the window for her, wanting to share his cookie monster doll with her, although you wouldn't know that he was excited to share with her once she did arrive :)

Another cute video of us chatting.

And I have been trying to get videos of all the cute things that Ethan's been doing or saying, he's just too on the go for me to catch everything. He loves this game, though I don't know how I feel about the game where the funny line is to yell "NOOOO SLEEPING!" haha.

And his all-time favorite Bible story right now is David and Goliath. He actually has a couple of his storybook Bible pages memorized and will say the words right along with us! He even acts out the story and gets super excited about falling down. I caught a little of him doing it today, although it doesn't even catch a glimpse of how excited he usually gets when he falls down :)

Pictures from the last month or so... in no particular order

Entertaining himself with my phone at the dock

Wen to the greenville airport, took a nap on the floor, found out our flight was canceled so we went back to my parents house and tried again the next morning at 3:45am :(

Ethan LOVED heading down to the water while we were at my parents house for Thanksgiving

Aunt Laura and Saige came over with a gingerbread house! The kids actually really liked doing it! It didn't hurt that Ethan LOVES candy :)

At the Mpls airport looking at all the planes on Thanksgiving day. Getting ready to head to B's house!

Quality time with Uncle Joe and Elmo

13 weeks and a trip

Here's me at 13 weeks, the last week of my first trimester I guess. Pretty exciting.

I was in Chicago over the weekend visiting friends from college. One of my friend's twin boys are so much fun to play with.

yummm

Welcome to my new obsession... making my own frappuccinos! I got the idea from a website that I subscribe to, it gives great money saving tips, and other stuff. It isn't exactly her recipe, but it tastes fabulous. I guess "the bucks" actually sells their syrups, but I just use French Vanilla coffee, and a nice splash of vanilla flavored creamer. Plus milk and choc syrup. That's all!

I make the coffee double-strength, and then freeze it in ice cube trays. That way when I blend it, I don't use ice and it doesn't get all watered down.
I blend it all up and enjoy it with a straw of course :) Everything tastes better when drank through a straw! The best thing is that I can make them decaf!! That's not an option when you're paying $4 for a glass.

And Steve calls them "Frappemochachinos" or something similar, lots of words smushed into one :) He says they're just as good as a store bought one though he isn't quite as obsessed as I am.

how we spent our v-day

We normally don't really go all out on these types of holidays. We're not really big on giving each other gifts, or surprises like that. My idea of the perfect way to spend it is if we can spend some time together. But since we had a busy weekend planned, I thought it'd be great if we went out to breakfast. I wanted to go someplace we hadn't been before, and someplace relatively cheap. So I found a diner downtown that seemed like just the place. We invited some friends and had a great time. What we didn't count on was the hour and a half wait for our food! That part we could have done without. And even though we were there forever and I had brought my camera along with, I never did get a picture.

Then we chilled at home for a bit before Steve had to be on campus to begin recording. He spent the afternoon setting up and recording tracks for the band's new ep we're hoping to get out this spring.

stuff I've been makin'

I have now made 3 pairs of these. So cute and tiny :) This isn't my pair, but the picture from the pattern. I keep forgetting to take a pic before I give them away. Mine were either blue or green, with brown straps.

The pattern called this a capelet. I'd call it a shrug, but whatever.

A neck cozy.
I also made a very warm and cozy shawl. I started it about 7 months ago. Not terribly exciting, but nice to wear around the house on insanely cold days.

I've been contemplating a hat, but I keep finding funner patterns :) My next project just might be some scrapbooking though. It just takes a little time to get organized with that. I'm getting there though!

crafting - sneak peak

When I finished the first one, Steve promptly informed me that I couldn't take a break, that I had 3 more to finish before Christmas. Can you guess what they are?

I'm glad to say now that I have 1 finished and two more almost finished. I can't wait for Christmas :)

I only got a few pictures of the shower before my camera died, but I got a picture of the adorable cake!! The theme was "Two peas in a pod" and it was so cute, and so perfect. I can't wait to meet those boys, Holly :)

I had a wonderful time catching up with my college friends, and was so blessed to be able to spend some time there.

And I took this picture several weeks ago, but am finally posting it. I made two coordinating baby blankets for the boys. I started over Christmas, thanks in part to Lara's help with the granny squares :) and finished them up before the shower.

And now is the weekend. I'm greatly looking forward to some rest and relaxation, seeing the Adairs tomorrow afternoon, and Connection Groups starting on Sunday evening. Should be a very fun weekend.

Exciting days!!

My first sewing project :) They're little "socks" filled with rice to go over our drafty window seals - draft dodgers. We'll see if they insulate our windows any, but they were a great way to start to get to know my sewing machine. Yes, I know that they are two different sizes, I was trying to see how big I could go and still have them rest on the window without falling off.

Our new computer is in!! Steve is saying "honey, put away the camera and let me get down to business".

And look how big our urchin is. Pictures of the aquarium don't do justice.
