uh oh

Ethan loves to say "uh oh" whenever anyone drops something, or even if he just sees something on the ground. He kinda gets caught just on the uh, and never gets to the oh though :)

I guess the book box is worth it

According to Ethan, not much is worth getting on your hands and knees for... but apparently the box of books is because I found him like this the other day

Isn't he just so sweet? :)

Ethan's new cousin!

We're so excited to welcome Xavier to the family!

Check out Laura's pic of all the cousins together, so fun.

11 months

A week ago, Ethan turned 11 months old! The countdown is on to his birthday, can you believe it??

funny man

While I was doing some tummy time with Ethan (or as I jokingly refer to it now, physical therapy to help him be motivated to crawl) I happened to catch this on video and I think he expresses pretty well how he feels about this lack of mobility thing...

He was trying to get at a piece of fluff that had floated behind the sheetrock that you see leaning against the wall.

So yeah, I have been joking that the time that I spend trying to get Ethan to learn how to crawl is his "physical therapy". Then last night I was talking to a mom of another baby who was pretty reluctant to turn over and to crawl and they actually went to a physical therapist as recommended by her pediatrician. So we'll see in a few months if I'm eating my words, we might just end up doing physical therapy for real. Either way, I'm sure he still won't be a fan.

new things every day

So Ethan loves blueberries. I think "loves" is a complete understatement, he practically went crazy over them. He was asking for more before he had finished the ones in front of him, and couldn't shovel them in his mouth fast enough. So funny. I had tried them before, but for some reason this time he loves them.

Speaking of which, Ethan now can ask for more without whining :) I had been casually doing some simple signs (sign language) with him, and just recently "more" clicked. You can see the sign for more here, and Ethan does it kind of like clapping but very intentional. When he really wants something, he actually seems like he's concentrating so hard he starts to shake. He knows what he wants, and is really trying to get his point across, ha. I'll have to catch a video of him doing it.

mr independent

So I was trying to feed Ethan his dinner the other night when he just would not eat with his hands, he only wanted to eat with the fork. But not when I fed him, he wanted to do it himself. Is this normal?? I gave him the plastic fork that I was using, and expected him to not know what to do with it, but he did surprisingly well! I've since let him use it quite a bit, and as long as I get the food on it, he can get it into his mouth. How funny.

I definitely need to get him his own set of silverware now. Oh boy, here we go.

moving

or not...

At the beginning of the video, doesn't he look like he's about to take off crawling?? Just teasing though, he's still stuck though he's not happy about it. And he's gotten wise to the fact that I am putting him on his hands and knees, he won't have anything to do with that anymore :) He really doesn't get that it has anything to do with getting him to move places, it just hasn't clicked yet. But his go kart skills are really improving, haha. He loves that thing, it's his only means of independence.
