Attention all Lafayette people!

Steve and I will be in Lafayette next weekend for a short trip to see my brother graduate from Purdue. We're planning on being in ABF on Sunday, so hopefully we'll get to see lots of you!!

Steve turned 30 on July 25th!


We spent the morning at church, the afternoon with family, and then went out just the two of us to dinner in the evening. Even with all the activity, we both got a nap in and managed to go to bed early. A sign of exciting lives, for sure :)

4 months

Ethan loves to use his hands and his voice now, and he's getting so much better at using both :) His eyes remain a combination of blue/gray/brown but have still not officially been declared brown by me, although Steve says that they've turned brown. He also has quite a silly side, especially when he's dead tired. It's so funny, he kinda gets slap-happy! We have also started to read books to him and it's so cute how attentive he is to the pages and pictures already. Tummy time has started to really click with him, he's able to look around, focus on mirrors and toys, and even reach for some of them while on his tummy. He hasn't quite figured out that he can grab at things when he's sitting up yet, so we can still sit at the table and eat with him in our lap... not for long probably. He's such an even tempered baby, we are truly loving spending time with him.

More 4th of July

My camera didn't make it into the pile of cameras for the group picture, so I had to steal Laura's pictures from her blog. Here are the group pics, I can't believe how many people are in the Mellema family now ;) It was so fun!

4 months old

I really don't believe that it's been 4 months already. On the other hand, I can't believe that we've only known Ethan for 4 short months :) It really is a funny thing.

Ethan had his 4 month appointment today. He weighed in at a whopping 17lbs 9oz (92nd %ile) and was 27" long (97th %ile). No wonder my arms and back are tired most of the time.

We got to spend the day on Sunday with the Mellema side, somewhere over 50? people were able to be there from all over the country! Only a few members of the family were unable to make it, so it was special to see almost everyone and catch up on life.
