The Big Day - Part 2

Every year, right before my birthday, our rhododendron bushes bloom! Here are some pics that I took of how pretty they look.

And here is our jumbo smoothie that we both enjoyed. (this is right before I accidentally stuck the straw up my nose... bad aiming!)
And proof that I never take good pics of Steve.

The big day

Well, it's here! My birthday was yesterday, and it was great. We mostly did things over the weekend, since we had the 3 days to celebrate. We went to see Prince Caspian, got a smoothie on campus and sat out in the warm sunshine to eat it, went out for breakfast, took a couple naps, and rented a couple of movies to watch. Overall it was a fun, relaxing weekend! Then yesterday I picked up my free smoothie from Smoothie King, but it was mostly work and then chatting with family/friends in the evening. I got called an old lady by my mom, which is always wonderful :)

Then this weekend will be a blury of activity again, so I'm glad that last weekend was restful. Hope everyone had wonderful Memorial Day weekends!

No way!!!

NKOTB is touring again! This may be totally yesterday's news to some, but I just found out about it recently. They were the first concert I ever saw! Ahhh, I remember standing in line for tickets with my dad, and my mom went to the actual concert with me :) I had a t-shirt, a huge pin, earrings, etc. etc. I used to listen to "Please Don't Go Girl" over and over, and knew exactly how long it took to rewind to the beginning of the song. And I distinctly remember the moment when I wore the shirt for the last time. A girl in my class told me that they were really lame now (probably didn't use the word lame - what was the early 90's term?) But don't you think that they're now kind of... a little bit... creepy??

Extreme Makeover Home Edition makes me cry. And it's online, so I can watch it at any time I want to. The only part that I have to see is when they move the bus and I get teary-eyed. Every time.

Dance your cares away

Speaking of Jay, our childhood dreams have come true! Fraggle Rock is hitting the big screen. We used to have a record of the theme song that we used to put on and dance to. Jay likes to sing to songs even when he doesn't know half of the words that he's singing. I think that instead of singing "Dance your cares away" it comes out more like "Base a care away" :) My favorite is when he sings the musical, non-lyrics parts of the song. He does the claps in the fraggle song too.

This is an awful picture, but this is my brother Jay. Jay has autism and you know how Rainman counts cards? Well, Jay remembers birthdays. Every time I talk to him he tells me who's birthday is coming up and he's usually in the process of baking a pan of brownies for whoever it is. The last time I talked to him it was May 1st or 2nd.
Jay: Know what month it is?
Me: It's May, right?
Jay: Yeah, and who's birthday is in May?
Me: *pretending not to know* I don't know, who's?
Jay: YOURS!

So in a few weeks on my birthday, I expect to get a call from him and he will sing me the entire song Happy Birthday :) But this weekend, I'll get to be reminded of it many times over, since I'm going to visit my family on Thursday! I'll have to remember to take a better picture of the two of us.
